CHARACTER INVENTORY
SEAMUS HARPER
MAGIC
✧ Mage Type: Seer
✧ Expecto Patronum: Level 1. Harnessing a powerful good memory, the character can summon an immaterial animal avatar of themselves for five minutes that can cause damage to enemies or provide a magical shield. The damage it causes to enemies is spiritual rather than physical, causing a repelling effect to evil beings. The shield can only shield one individual at a time.
✧ Jacked In: Level 1. Back home, Harper's dataport (a cybernetic implant behind his ear) allows him to plug his brain into various systems to access information or hack systems and this spell imitates that. With this spell, a magical cord extends from his dataport to the earth beneath him, allowing him to "jack in" and get a basic read on nearby energy sources. This has a range of 50 feet and includes detecting the life energy of living things (people, plants, and animals, but no spirits or beings like dementors) and nearby spell grids around areas or objects. For spell grids, he can only get a vague sense of the spell, such as picking up that a spell near a door has some kind of intent for trapping without reading the specifics. At this level of the spell, Harper cannot interact with any of these energy sources, only get a glimpse of them. Basically it's a glorified "detect" spell.
This spell has many limitations. It can be blocked by a wide range of things, ranging from counterspells to Harper's own emotional state (he must be perfectly calm, with no anxiety or neurotic worries in the way). He must be close enough to touch some kind of natural conductor in the environment to use almost as an magical antenna (soil or plant life works best, water and stone are so-so, metal is awful, dead wood or synthetics are an insulator with no conductivity at all, so he can't use this inside a building with a wood floor). It also takes several minutes to perform (usually 5-10, but he can push it down to 2 or 3 under pressure if he's at the top of his game), and leaves him completely defenseless, as his body completely loses outward consciousness and goes limp while his brain is jacked in. While jacked in, he is unable to hear and respond to outside stimuli and being forcibly ripped away from the spot he's at instead of getting to stop the spell himself will cause painful feedback that makes him lose consciousness for about 15-20 minutes.
✧ Soul Self: Level 1. Harper can project a spectral avatar that's a representation of his soul and use it to attack enemies or shield allies. The attacks are pure blunt-force trauma caused by flinging it around, that can only hurt 2-3 enemies at a time. When using it defensively he can only shield a few people at a time.
Based on his mood and thoughts, this avatar will look like waves of blood and fire when he's angry (a callback to his crewmate Tyr saying he's got fire in his blood) or look like it's made of water, in the shape of an alien manta rayish animal native to Infinity Atoll, his fav place to surf. This change in appearance is purely cosmetic and it has the same basic abilities regardless of its appearance.
The soul-self can take physical damage. It's a little more resistant to damage than a person but not by much. Damage to or destruction of the soul-self will not kill him but can cause him painful feedback. While projecting his soul-self, his body will be vulnerable based on how much energy he puts into it. A weak, barely substantial version of it is something he can project while doing other things but it'll lack the oomph to cause much damage. A full, powerful, substantial projection that can severely hurt enemies makes his body almost too weak to stand and causes his senses to be severely limited, leaving him half-blind.
